Beginner's Guide To Star Stable
Star Stable is a test of your racing knowledge and management skills in which you attempt to guide a stable of horses to the ultimate victory. So if you have more tips than a tin of asparagus then Star Stable is the fantasy horse racing game for you.
There are two free game periods each year, one for the Melbourne spring racing carnival and one for the Sydney autumn carnival. As with all fantasy games you choose a squad, or stable in this case, and points are awarded on their performance. If you’ve never played before, don’t worry! Star Stable Fantasy Horse Racing is pleased to bring you this guide to help get you started.

HOW IT WORKS
You’re an owner with $1 million to spend to fill 10 spots in your stable and you must fill all 10 spots without going over budget. Essentially the amount of prize money won by your horses provides your score each week.
The best part, for many people, of Star Stable is the ability to compete against mates in various mini-leagues. You can join up to 5 mini-leagues to battle your mates for bragging rights. You will compete amongst other virtual trainers for the weekly prizes and the player, who manages their stable best, by winning the most prize money, wins the overall competition.
To complete your stable line up you choose a jockey, trainer and one of your horses to be stable champion each week. The stable champion provides double prize money. Your stable will receive prize money from your selected jockey and trainer based on the prize money that was awarded to their horse for each featured race. Your jockey receives an amount equivalent to 5% of the winnings awarded to their respective horse, while your trainer receives 10% of the winnings. To find out the race schedule and prize money awarded for each race head over to the document download section.
This year there are seven rounds in total, with six trading periods in between (see below). After each meeting you are allowed to make two trades to your stable in the allotted trade period. During the competition you also have two wildcard trades that can be used separately at any trade period.
Most importantly, the value of horses may change depending on their performance in the featured races of the competition. All horse values will rise depending on the worth of their performance as follows:
If a particular horse's value changes in your stable, you may elect to trade out that horse and have their new increased value (plus anything left over in your budget) to use when you trade in another horse. The overall value of a stable can rise, meaning it is critical to get horses whose value may rise. There is no price cap on horses’ value so you can grow your stable value without limit.
With a field of more than 30,000 people lined up it requires an equal dose of luck, skill, and understanding how the competition works to be in the hunt for the major prize. The tactical element in Star Stable is most important to know. You score points according to the prize-money your selected stable of horses earn, but with most of the rich races situated at the end of the competition, the key to Star Stable is having your stable peak on the big day.
This season don't get taken to the cleaners, the smart money is on Star Stable!
